My Approach to Therapy

My Approach as a Therapist

My approach is very warm and considerate of the other person's space. I strongly believe we all have imperfections and struggles, and we have all done, said, and felt things we may be compelled to leave out when telling the story of our lives to others. However, this is where you and I will work together to create a space you feel safe to embrace all aspects of your story and let it unfold in the most healing way possible. My goal is to help you shine a light on behaviors, feelings, and beliefs that may be keeping you from moving forward and embracing all the possibilities life has to offer you.

The more we know about ourselves, the more we can learn to accept and love ourselves for who we are. In building a strong foundation of love and acceptance of ourselves, the more we can honor what has helped as in the past while at the same time recognizing that it is no longer helpful or healthy for us now.  Together we will build an environment to provide a safe non-judgmental space for you to feel ready to open up and say the hard things that the rest of the world doesn’t often acknowledge. It's important to learn how to take care of yourself again and love yourself completely.

Techniques and Training

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and received specialized training through EMDRIA. This dedicated therapy technique demonstrates how the mind can heal from psychological trauma, much as the body recovers from physical trauma. In addition to this, I utilize many elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused techniques, Motivation Interviewing and a variety of mindfulness based interventions.

No person finds any one technique to be their "cure all". It is my belief a healthy blend of techniques interwoven together, paired with active listening, and a genuine interest in human connections and your personal wellbeing is the best approach for feeling safe, cared for, and seeing positive results quickly.

There may be a short wait at this time for new clients. I have a wait list but can also offer referrals.

What matters most is that you get the support that you truly need and deserve.
